Former New York Yankees closed Aroldis Chapman had some harsh words for the team on a recent podcast appearance.

Chapman’s time with the Yankees was largely a success until his final season with the team in 2022. Chapman was erratic on the mound, missed a month of the season due to an infection stemming from a leg tattoo and lost his closer’s role.

Aroldis Chapman’s blunt dismissal of a Yankees reunion set off a fury among the Bronx faithful. It came after the veteran closer declared that he’d rather retire than pitch in pinstripes again.

Since then, he played one season with the Pittsburgh Pirates and another, revitalized season with the Red Sox. In 67 appearances with the Yankees’ division rival, Chapman posted a career-best 1.17 ERA while striking out 85 batters over 61 1/3 innings.
