Universal Music Group is requesting to dismiss Drake’s federal defamation lawsuit against the label over Kendrick Lamar’s blockbuster song “Not Like Us,” saying in a legal filing that the rapper’s lawsuit is a “misguided attempt to salve his wounds” after he “lost a rap battle that he provoked.

The label says followers of the rap battle understand that Kendrick Lamar was exaggerating in the song accusing Drake of pedophilia.

In the motion, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday, which was obtained and reviewed by TheWrap, UMG states the "rhetorical hyperbole" in the song is common in rap diss tracks and thus is not meant to be taken literally,
