Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers praised his side's composure in their 1-0 Champions League home win over Young Boys Berne on Wednesday after the Glasgow side failed to convert a first-half penalty and were held at bay for 85 minutes.

An own goal five minutes from time gave Celtic a 1-0 victory over Young Boys Berne in the Champions League on Wednesday and took the Scottish side past the competition’s group stage for the first time in 12 years.

A victory at Parkhead would move Brendan Rodgers' side onto 12 points in the new Champions League table and put them in a strong position to finish in the top 24 and progress to the play-off round.

A late Young Boys own goal helped Celtic to victory in a game that saw Daizen Maeda given a late red card. Celtic were the better team throughout much of the 90 at Celtic Park and at some points in the first half must have thought it was going to be one of those nights.
