The Minneapolis DFL on Saturday endorsed state Sen. Omar Fateh to be the next mayor of the state's largest city.In a post on X, Fateh says he is incredibly honored to be the candidate endorsed for Minneapolis mayor.

The Minneapolis Democratic-Farmer-Labor party is endorsing a candidate for mayor for the first time in 16 years and it is not incumbent Mayor Jacob Frey. State Senator Omar Fateh won the D-F-L endorsement at the convention on Saturday night.

During the DFL convention on Saturday, State Sen. Omar Fateh, who’s running as a democratic socialist, won the party's endorsement, gaining at least 60 percent of the vote.
