Whenever a highly anticipated comic book film is released, toy manufacturers often reveal the looks of the main heroes and villains before they appear on the big screen. And like clockwork, Hot Toys has carried on that tradition by revealing The Fantastic Four: First Steps ‘ Galactus in all his celestial glory.
The best thing about First Steps is the aesthetic. It’s far and away my favorite part of this film, and that’s a problem because as much as I do enjoy a solid retrofuturistic aesthetic, it’s not enough to make a mediocre movie worth watching. This is all style over substance.
First, there's this Clobberin' Time T-Shirt, obviously a signature of Ben Grimm. It's available in almost every color you like, with The Thing's iconic phrase written in Fantastic Four baby blue and the O replaced with the character's rocky fist.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman has reiterated that the movie is a standalone story that doesn't require any homework on Marvel fans' part.
