Hamas has said the return of the remaining bodies "may take some time" due to the destruction wrought in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday instructed the country's military to "carry out powerful strikes in Gaza," a statement from his office said, in response to alleged ceasefire violations by Hamas.

An official from the Israel Defense Forces told NBC News that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for strikes in retaliation for a Hamas attack in Rafah.

A militant group allied with Hamas confirmed the deaths, which were part of an increase in fighting in the Palestinian territory during a surge of settler violence.

The October 2024 operation targeted Iranian ballistic missile production sites weakening Tehran’s capabilities and paving the way for Israel’s subsequent Operation ‘Rising Lion.’

The IDF reported identifying terrorist operatives at the training camp. The release stated that Hezbollah terrorists were trained to shoot and use a variety of weapons at the camp.
