Thanks to a goal from Morgan Geekie on their first shot of the night, the Bruins started Monday's showdown with the Senators as well as they could have. They also ended it as poorly as they could have, though, as the Bruins surrendered seven straight goals on the way to an ugly, 7-2 blowout loss in Ottawa.
Geekie’s tally proved critical. The Avalanche scored a late goal with their goalie pulled, but the Bruins held on for a 3-2 victory, ending their six-game losing streak, while dealing Colorado its first regular-season loss.
The Boston Bruins allowed seven goals at home in a loss to the Anaheim Ducks, as a difficult stretch continues.
