CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The annual tax holiday for Ohioans starts on August 1, running for two weeks. During that time, all sales tax will be banned for certain items under $500. The tax holiday is for “all tangible personal property” which can include:

Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday, a two-week event that allows Ohio shoppers to save, kicks off Friday, Aug. 1 at midnight and ends Thursday, Aug. 14 at 11:59 p.m. The annual event allows families to buy meaningful, tangible goods without having to pay the burden of state sales tax, set at 5.75 percent plus the local sales tax is.

For the first two weeks in August, most items purchased in person and online that are under $500 will be tax-free.
