The San Francisco 49ers need help at wide receiver, and it's on the way, as they're expected to sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling after his release.

The San Francisco 49ers bolstered their banged-up receiver corps by agreeing to a one-year deal with Marquez Valdes-Scantling after he was cut by Seattle, a person with knowledge of the deal said Wednesday.

And it’s important to remember that the Niners do, indeed, have truly great players — Brock Purdy, Trent Williams, George Kittle, Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey — and a few other Pro-Bowl caliber talents on the roster.

The Lions claimed Hector off waivers ahead of their 2021 training camp following his exit from Tennessee. While he didn’t make Detroit’s 53-man roster that year, the team re-signed him to its practice squad the next day after roster cuts. After the 2021 season, Hector signed a reserve/futures contract to remain in Detroit.

Less than a week after Brenden Rice and Terique Owens shared the field for a preseason finale between the Los Angeles Chargers and San Francisco 49ers, the sons of Pro Football Hall of Fame receivers Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens were waived by their respective teams.

The 49ers are down to two quarterbacks. The team announced that they have waived quarterbacks Tanner Mordecai and Carter Bradley on Monday. Both players are being cut with injury designations, which means they will revert to injured reserve if they go unclaimed.
