Millwall manager Alex Neil wants to move on from Liam Roberts' horror tackle on Jean-Philippe Mateta after Lions clubs were heard chanting more sickening songs about the Crystal Palace striker.

Millwall fans were heard singing vile new chants about Jean-Philippe Mateta during their Championship victory over Watford. Crystal Palace striker Mateta suffered a serious head injury during the FA Cup clash against Millwall last weekend after being kicked in the head by goalkeeper Liam Roberts.

The striker has been in imperious form since the beginning of last season and is attracting attention from across the league.

After being kicked in the head, some Millwall fans chanted "let him die" towards Mateta as he received medical treatment which included oxygen. He was later transported to hospital, where he required 25 stitches.

Roberts, 30, was sent off in Millwall's FA Cup loss to Crystal Palace after an attempt at a clearance saw him kick Mateta's head.

Millwall fans mocked Jean-Philippe Mateta with a chant on Saturday, after the Crystal Palace star was hospitalised during their FA Cup game last week.
