From tip to tail, the Artemis II mission relies on about two-dozen systems and pieces of equipment that were manufactured at Frontier Electronic Systems (FES), one of several NASA suppliers in Oklahoma contributing parts for the Space Launch System rocket and the Orion capsule.
At 1:57 p.m. ET, Artemis II's Orion spacecraft broke the distance record for the farthest humans have travelled from Earth. At about 6:44 p.m. ET, mission control lost contact with the crew for about 40 minutes as the spacecraft passed behind the moon.
The NASA-led Artemis II mission, carrying a four-person crew beyond Earth orbit for the first time since 1972, is conducting a seven-hour flyby of the moon.
