NEW YORK (PIX11) — A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of New York and New Jersey. The National Weather Service issued the advisory to Passaic County, New Jersey, and Orange and Putnam Counties in New York from 5 a.
A fast-moving clipper system is expected to bring several inches of snow to upstate New York. The highest snowfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are forecast for the Adirondacks and southern Green Mountains.
As of Thursday morning, some model solutions show the nor’easter tracking farther south and east of the city, resulting in no snow. Meanwhile, there are other solutions which show a “typical nor’easter track” in which the city receives “a significant amount of snow” — potentially 6 inches or more.
Freezing rain, ice and snow through parts of western and central New York have triggered a winter weather advisory through Thursday morning.
