The government and national assembly have approved an €180 million for the acquisition of anti-aircraft missiles.

As Sofia receives its F-16s, it will retire its legacy fighters including around a dozen Mikoyan MiG-29 (NATO reporting “Fulcrum”) and Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO reporting “Frogfoot”) aircraft.
