Supreme Court signals it's feeling the heat amid backlash to 'shadow docket' rulings
The Supreme Court has started showing signs that justices are aware of the growing public frustration around its shadow docket, a New York Times reporter said Wednesday. Jodi Kantor, a Times investigative reporter,
“If the public were aware of how much of the deliberations affecting millions of people are made by 27-year-olds after happy hour, they’d be shocked,” Nikolas Bowie, a Harvard Law School professor who served as a clerk to Justice Sonia Sotomayor, told the outlet.
The judge noted the reason for taking the death penalty off the table might strike the average person as “tortured and strange.”
