The Transportation Security Administration said Sunday that its PreCheck program would remain operational despite an earlier announcement from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that the
"Travelers should be prioritized, not leveraged."
TSA PreCheck briefly shut down Friday morning at LAX, creating confusion for travelers already facing widespread flight cancellations.
As of 6 a.m. Sunday, travelers were able to get through TSA PreCheck at Chicago's O'Hare airport, despite Homeland Security's announcement.
Many employees who work for agencies housed within Homeland Security, including TSA, are working without pay.
