Invest 98L in the eastern Caribbean is expected to strengthen into a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next few days.

Computer "spaghetti" model runs and meteorologists flagged an eastern Atlantic disturbance in early September as having an increased chance to develop into a t ropical storm, which would be called Gabrielle, with some forecasts showing a westward track toward the Caribbean.

Jerry is no longer predicted to become a hurricane, the Hurricane Center said. Current models show Jerry taking a path similar to other hurricanes this year, moving north and then taking a sharp turn to the east and staying away from Florida and the U.S. East Coast.
