California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday launched a two-day tour of South Carolina, meeting voters across rural areas.

When asked by reporters in Los Angeles Monday if the real reason behind his trip had anything to do with South Carolina being an early primary state, the governor said, "you don't know that, and I don't know that and so that's why I would suggest it's what it is.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - California Gov. Gavin Newsom is making a stop in the Midlands on Tuesday as part of a statewide tour. The South Carolina Democratic Party is hosting a multi-county tour with Newsom across the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. Other stops include in Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Laurens, Pickens, Oconee and Florence counties.
