LAS VEGAS -- The Vegas Golden Knights scored five goals in the first period and hung on for a 7-5 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday.

Ivan Barbashev scored two goals and had two assists and Keegan Kolesar also scored twice as the Vegas Golden Knights tied a team record with five goals in the first period and then held on for a wild 7-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night in Las Vegas.
It was a night that the young skaters sparked a rally, but the Chicago Blackhawks did too much “self-induced” damage in the first period.
The Golden Knights are known for making a dream acquisition, and another one could come at this year's NHL Trade Deadline.
The Chicago Blackhawks, coming into Thursday losers of three straight since the 4-Nations Face-Off, needed a game in which they played well so badly. Winning would be nice but they hadn't even had a game that they weren't thoroughly outplayed yet.
