A veteran fire official has been tapped as the new chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department, NBC Los Angeles learned Friday.
The selection comes at a pivotal time for a department that was left changed by the Palisades Fire nearly a year ago.
The mayor picked Jaime Moore, a deputy chief in the city's Valley Bureau, to head the department after a nationwide search.
