There was a time when the Pittsburgh Steelers had built a reputation for their ability to draft wide receivers and turn them into stars. That always felt a little hyperbolic and recent history has told a very different story.

The Pittsburgh Steelers tried to bring in a wide receiver upgrade before and during the 2024 campaign but ultimately failed in their pursuit. They did acquire Mike Williams, but Williams didn't prove to be the upgrade the Steelers needed.

Similar to Godwin, Stefon Diggs' season-ending injury in 2024 will likely force him to test the free-agent waters in 2025. If Diggs can fully recover from his ACL injury by next season, the Steelers may get a steal with his elite talent likely coming at a bargain 'prove-it' contract.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering the 2025 offseason arguably in a worse position than when the 2024 break began. Quarterback remains a question mark, the defense has some huge holes to address, and the offense may be without a true number one wide receiver if the decision is made to move on from problematic pass-catcher George Pickens.

Now heading into free agency in 2025, the Steelers could use a defensive tackle with untapped potential. Dallas Cowboys DT Osa Odighizuwa built on a strong 2023 campaign with an equally impressive 2024 season.
