Presidents Day, officially known as Washington's Birthday, is a federal holiday that honors the legacy of America's first president, George Washington, and later expanded to include Abraham Lincoln.

Presidents Day is a federal holiday celebrated each year in mid-February to honor past U.S. presidents. Locally, it's part of the next big break week - known as Presidents Day break week in some districts, midwinter recess in others or simply as February break week among most students and teachers.

The shift from Washington’s Birthday to Presidents' Day began in the late 1960s, when Congress proposed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
