It's been just over six weeks since the storms in May leveled the Laurel County community, in more ways than one.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — At least 19 people are dead and several others are injured after a tornado tore through Laurel County, KY, late Friday evening, according to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.

Beshear confirmed 17 died in Laurel County and one died in Pulaski County, with ages ranging from 25 to 76 years old. "Please pray for those impacted," he said in a social media post early in the day.

Just after 3 p.m., Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said that number had grown to 18 across the state, including 17 fatalities in Laurel County and one in Pulaski County.

The victim was first taken to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in London, then transferred to the University of Kentucky for further treatment.
