It took 18 high-drama, emotionally exhausting innings, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are two wins away from back-to-back World Series titles thanks to a 6-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Monday's Game 3 of the 2025 Fall Classic.
It lasted 18 innings and ended on another Freddie Freeman walk-off home run, just like Game 1 of last year's World Series. This one was a solo shot to dead center field. The thousands of fans who were still in attendance shot to their feet and roared, soon serenaded with "I love L.A." It was a 6-5 Dodgers win in 18 innings.
Is there something in the water, or perhaps an unspoken precursor for Game 3's of the World Series held at Dodger's Stadium, that says the contest must go 18 innings? Whatever you choose to believe, last night's matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays was one for the books,
Shohei Ohtani was intentionally walked four times, the most in a single game in MLB postseason history. He also set the World Series record for the most times getting on base. Ohtani broke the record after his seventh time on base, and he ended up reaching a total of nine times. He also tied MLB's regular season record by reaching base nine times.
