A 9-year-old who was critically injured in a crash between a scooter and a golf cart in St. George last week has died.

Police say a 9-year-old boy riding an e-scooter died after being hit by a golf cart driven by a 12-year-old in a St. George neighborhood, prompting calls for increased safety measures in the area.

This week, all Salvation Army posts across the country are celebrating National Salvation Army Week — a week first declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954.

Tuesday will be recognized as "Day Without Childcare" across the country, and here in Utah, advocates gathered at the State Capitol on Monday morning.
