Tesla said on Friday it was recalling nearly 380,000 vehicles in the United States due to a power steering assist failure that could increase steering effort, particularly at low speeds, potentially raising the risk of a crash.

Loss of power steering caused by overstressed motor drive components will require increased steering effort from driver, raising risk of crash, NHTSA says.

Tesla is recalling more than 375,000 vehicles due to a power steering issue. The recall is for certain 2023 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles operating software prior to 2023.38.4, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
