India's star cricketer Virat Kohli has said he might consider coming out of T20I retirement if his country's team will qualify for the final of the Los Angeles men's cricket event in 2028. The 36-year-old retired from T20 internationals after winning the T20 World Cup final in 2024 against South Africa in Barbados.

Virat Kohli welcomed the inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and, although the Indian great will not be coaxed out of retirement for the showpiece, he said he believed a new generation of Indian athletes would be ready to strike gold.

Virat Kohli ended his T20 career with a World Cup win in the bonzai format of cricket. But something far bigger has appeared on the horizon, and it is exciting enough to pull the biggest visible name in cricket to come out of retirement – the Olympic gold.
