An air quality health advisory is in place until midnight due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter, city officials said.

Smoke from wildfires burning in Canada has caused air quality alerts to be issued in parts of New Jersey and New York on Sunday.

On Saturday at 3:02 p.m. the National Weather Service reported an updated air quality alert in effect until Sunday at midnight for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.
