Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II, last season's NFL Defensive Player of the Year, ruled out with injury
Surtain won NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season. He has been one of the best cover corners in the NFL since the Broncos took him with the ninth pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Sunday's matchup was a big one for him and the Broncos' secondary, against prolific Cowboys receivers Pickens and CeeDee Lamb.
The Denver Broncos have won their fifth game in a row to move 6-2 for the season, beating the Dallas Cowboys 44-24. Four passing touchdowns for quarterback Bo Nix and a hat-trick for running back RJ Harvey inspired the Broncos to a 20-point win that included six touchdowns for the hosts.

Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler completed a short pass to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, who had the ball punched out by Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean when the wide receiver turned upfield. Antoine Winfield Jr. scooped the ball up and raced nearly 50 yards for what looked like a touchdown that would have given Tampa Bay a two-score lead.
With a successful extra point attempt from Brandon Aubrey, Denver leads 44-17 with 7:14 in the fourth quarter. The Dallas Cowboys can't catch a break, as Dak Prescott throws his second interception of the game straight into the arms of second-year linebacker Dondrea Tillman, who returns it for 38 yards.
Broncos LB Justin Strnad received a $15,486 fine. Riley Moss also received an unrelated fine for a separate offense.
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are rumored to be willing participants ahead of the NFL’s Nov. 4th trade deadline.
Sunday was probably Moss’ most impressive step yet, given the context. NFL Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II, the Broncos’ CB1, made a stellar play to bat away a potential TD catch on Dallas’ first drive. Only he landed awkwardly on the turf during his descent.
