The "Good Trouble Lives On" protests commemorate the five-year anniversary of congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis' death.

The Good Trouble Lives On protests on July 17 follow similar protests across the U.S., dubbed No Kings, in June.

"Good Trouble Lives On" protests will be taking place across the country on Thursday, including in Central Florida. Nearly 50 Florida cities are expected to host the national day of action protests in response to "the attacks on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration.

During the "No Kings" protests on June 14, TCPalm reported that n umerous people peacefully demonstrated in Vero Beach, Port St. Lucie and Sebastian as part of the nationwide protests, which coincided with Flag Day, President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, and the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary celebration and military parade.

Around 100 demonstrators marched from Houston City Hall to Discovery Green and back in opposition of President Donald Trump and his policies, among other issues.

The protests took place on the fifth anniversary of the death of civil rights icon John Lewis. The former congressman coined the phrase "good trouble" to describe peaceful protests challenging civil rights infringements, and organizers say the upcoming demonstrations will carry on this legacy.

One protestor, Jim Clark, said he's been attending rallies since the beginning of the year. He said he attended Thursday in response to the defunding of the USAID and the resulting food waste, and funding cuts to public media like NPR. Clark said he protests for the sake of his children and grandchildren.
