Banking apps have once again been hit by IT issues on payday in the UK. Lloyds Bank and Halifax apps went down on Friday morning, according to thousands of user reports to platform outage monitor Downdetector. Users also reported technical issues affecting access to the TSB and Bank of Scotland apps.

Lloyds Bank’s top executives have received a bumper windfall despite the lender’s rocky results and mass closure of high-street branches. In its annual report published on Thursday, the bank said its top two bosses would receive nearly £2m in bonuses in 2024 in addition to their regular payouts.

Lloyds Bank and other banks’ online services appear to be down in a major outage. Halifax, TSB, First Direct, Nationwide and Bank of Scotland all appeared to be suffering from problems at the same time.
