Soto, who signed a 15-year, $765 million deal this offseason, constituting the largest contract in sports history, had a walk and a run batted in during the game.

Laz Diaz has been notorious for making bad calls when he’s working an MLB game. But on Wednesday, he admitted fault. Diaz was behind the plate during the Boston Red Sox -New York Mets game at Fenway Park when Kristian Campbell came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth inning.

He recently went through one with Triple-A Worcester — at least by his lofty standards. On April 25, he slammed a foul ball off his right foot that forced him to miss a couple of games. When he returned, Anthony endured a rut of 12 straight contests in which his offensive production was limited to singles and walks.

Over the course of the offseason, there was a lot of buzz about the Boston Red Sox and Alex Bregman. Ultimately, all of the rumors and speculation culminated in Boston landing one of the top overall free agents on the open market.

Fitts last appeared in an April 12 contest at the Chicago White Sox when he was pulled with a right pectoral strain. He was placed on the 15-day IL the following day. He will require multiple rehab starts and should return sometime in early to mid-June.
