Total Pro Sports on MSNFact Check: Did Max Scherzer Really Punch Eric Lauer? Find Out
Did Max Scherzer really punch Blue Jays teammate Eric Lauer after Thursday's win over Detroit? Here's the truth.
Toronto Blue Jays lefthander Eric Lauer continued his breakout campaign, pitching eight innings of one-run ball to help power his club to an 11-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. And he did it while pitching with a fat lip.
Max Scherzer was clearly not pleased with the way he pitched during the Blue Jays' 5-4 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.
While the Twins ask for the world for either Jhoan Duran or Griffin Jax, we could grab lefty reliever Danny Coulombe here. He's got a 0.93 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 29 innings this season. Having Little and Coulombe both as late-inning lefty options would really be a nice luxury for manager John Schneider.
Max Scherzer has been there, done that and won that. Now, we can finally wonder if he can pull it off one more time. With 90 pitches Tuesday night against the Yankees and 90 pitches in his start prior to the break,
“He was dominating areas up and down and out,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. “He is who he is for a reason.” Scherzer claimed his first victory since July 25 last year when he pitched for Texas and the Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-1.
The Toronto Blue Jays could take a low-cost approach to adding some starting pitching depth at the trade deadline.
