🏀On February 1, 1967 the American Basketball Association was born! The ABA, which fielded 11 teams in its first season, lasted until the 1975-76 season, when it merged with the NBA. The ABA distinguished itself from its older counterpart with a more wide-open, flashy style of offensive play, as well as differences in rules, the use of a 3-point field goal and a 30 second shot clock.
