Hello everybody. I remember making my first ever solo improvised recording back in the 1990s for BMG. The studio was strewn with all sorts of percussion objects, and the first piece that I went to was this lorry silencer, which is very heavy indeed. But it creates this very shimmering, almost triangle type of effect. And it gave me an idea to create a piece called ‘Shadow Behind the Iron Sun’. | Dame Evelyn Glennie
