The Infant is a statue that was supposed to have been given by St. Teresa of Avila to a noble family in Spain. One of the daughters of that family ended up marrying a Czech nobleman and was given the statue as a wedding present. She in turn presented it to a Carmelite monastery in Prague and told them, Venerable Fathers, “I bring you my dearest possession. Honour this image and you shall never want.”
