#OTD in 1964, the bodies of the civil rights workers James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were found in an earthen dam in Neshoba County. The three men were members of SNCC’s Freedom Summer project and were initially sent to investigate a fire bombing at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. After being reported missing for over a month, their bodies were later discovered after a tip disclosed their location.
